From August 2019 until November 2020 I volunteered for Blue Ocean Watch. During that time I was the social media strategist, created several illustrations for their merchandising and prepared design presentations for events or fundraising. I also created the illustrations for the short film 'The Song of Life of the Ocean' to raise awareness of noise pollution.
All this work was in-kind donations.
In the summer of 2020 I was approached by Shark Guardian about supporting their 'Stop Shark Finning' campaign. I created several illustrations to motivate people to sign the petition to get over 100.000 signatures to ask the British Parliament to ban the import and export of shark fins. The petition reached over 100.000 signatures and today the U.K. has banned the import and export of shark fins. I'm very proud having been part of that team.
In 2020 and 2021 I supported the Sketch for Survival exhibition by Explorers Against Extinction by donating 5 of my illustrations. Sketch for Survival is a global art initiative in aid of conservation. Sketch for Survival has donated over $250,000 USD to frontline conservation projects and has proved to be an effective way to raise awareness about a whole range of global issues, from the Illegal Wildlife Trade to Climate Change and habitat loss.
From 2021 I supported the Stop Finning EU with several artworks to raise awareness and to support the European Citizens Initiative #StopFinningEU. Which reached 1 million signatures in in January 2022. This collaboration was unpaid and all artworks where created from my own wish to support this initiative. The European Citizens’ Initiative “Stop Finning – Stop the Trade” received on 5 July 2023 the Commission’s response to their request to end the trade in shark fins in Europe through additional trade legislation.
I loved volunteering for the Marine Diaries. The projects are educational and great resources for schools. For the #Marineecosystemdiaries I donated the 'Mangrove' illustration, which was displayed for the month of July 2021. I also helped to set up the graphic design for The Marine Ecosystem Diaries infographics, which explores 9 different marine ecosystems, from coral reefs to polar seas. The project is part of The Marine Diaries’ larger work to develop ocean literacy materials for NGOs, non-profits, and other institutions to aid the education of the public.
